Giannis Antetokounmpo-Bucks agree to three-year $186 million contract extension

He isn’t going anywhere Bucks fans. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $186 million. Adrian Wojnarowski reports of the news.

The two-time MVP averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists last season, but fell short of what would’ve been his third MVP trophy last season.

Antetokounmpo has become the heart and soul for the Milwaukee Bucks. Leading them to their second ever NBA championship in 2021 and first one since 1971.

The Bucks took a chance on the Greek prodigy in the 2013 NBA draft in selecting him with the 15th overall pick. It didn’t take Giannis long to find his way into stardom into the NBA. Only four seasons in Antetokounmpo was averaging over 22 points per game on over 51% from the field.

Over the course of his career, Antetokounmpo has stuffed his trophy case with awards. Becoming a seven-time All Star, five-time All-defense, 2021 Finals MVP, 2016-17 Most Improved Player, and more. But that’s just the beginning.

This upcoming season, Giannis is looking more unstoppable than he ever was. Adding a true co-superstar along his side in Damian Lillard is deadly for the rest of the NBA. Last season, Lillard averaged 32 points per game on a very efficient 46.3 percent shooting – tied for the best of his career.

Lillard and Antetokounmpo will add an instant one-two punch to the Bucks. Pairing both superstars alongside Khris Middelton, Brook Lopez, and a great bench unit. The sky is the limit for Milwaukee this season.

Antetokounmpo and the rest of the Bucks will tip off their 2023-24 season debut against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday October 26th at 7:30 pm.
