The honeymoon is over. The Milwaukee Bucks seemed destined to reach the NBA Finals this season. They made the Celtics look like clowns. The Bucks had the Kawhi Leonard led Raptors down 0-2. The Bucks hadn’t lost 2 straight games all season so the series looked over. Then the Bucks got shot down like doe and punted 4 straight games to get eliminated. It was a weird collapse, to say the least.

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokoumnpo is frustrated. Who wouldn’t be after that meltdown? The Greek Freak is in line to really cash in starting in 2020 when he can sign a Super-Max extension worth around $250 million. Reports are coming out that Giannis may not be a lock to sign it. Huh?

Malika Andrews of ESPN:

“A source close to Antetokounmpo said that getting to the NBA Finals is not just an ambition, it could tip the scales as he weighs his contractual future.

And if they can reach the NBA Finals next season, the Bucks can improve their chances of signing Antetokounmpo to the supermax in the summer of 2020.”

Everything I’ve heard come from Giannis has suggested that he will be a Buck forever. I also don’t buy any of these rumors because they are discussed non-stop so who knows how much truth is in this report. Here’s what we do know. Brook Lopez, Malcolm Brogden, Khris Middleton, and Nikola Mirotic are all free agents. We also don’t know if Milwaukee is willing to pay a high luxury tax bill. It’s reasonable that Milwaukee takes a step back for those reasons. If they do, then maybe the nerves can actually set in.

This Bucks team is really constructed perfectly around the Greek Freak. He just needs to improve in the midrange area. If that happens, the man will become flat out unstoppable. This is the most important offseason in Bucks history.
