Frank Seravalli feuds with NHL Agent on Twitter

Frank Seravalli dropped an unusual bombshell on Twitter today. While the Daily Faceoff reporter is known for dropping the latest on NHL news, he sent a shot to an NHL agent today. Hours ago, reports swirled that Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson was very ready to be traded to a new team. This news came from a scoop posted by Seravalli. However, Kurt Overhardt, Gibson’s agent, released a statement on Twitter denying the reports and calling them false and inflammatory.

The craziest part is, this is not the first time these two people had problems with one another. Seravalli had some receipts and pulled no punches in his response. Check out the exchange below:

Talk about a bombshell. Interactions like this are basically unheard of in the sports industry–player agents and representatives do not frequently get into arguments with the media. The news coming out before official announcements are just due to good reporting and well-connected sources.

Up until this point, Frank has been one of the very best reporters from NHL free agency so far. He finds out many signings and trades and reports them on Twitter and elsewhere sooner than his colleagues. Obviously, he knows what he is talking about most of the time.

Can you even blame John Gibson if he asked out? The Ducks have done pretty much nothing to improve. Adding an old Alex Killorn will not move the needle toward any success. If they are able to potentially add Alex DeBrincat into the fold maybe it becomes a different story. However, the defense is what really needs help. They have been leaving Gibson out to dry for the better part of half a decade.

Frank Seravalli got into an unexpected Twitter beef tonight. However, he strongly defended his reputation as one of the best NHL reporters around.
