Frank Gore Jr. 2024 NFL Draft Profile
Ah, yes. It’s Frank Gore Jr. time. To just confirm, yes, this is the son of 49ers running back Frank Gore. Do you feel old yet? Before we get too distracted, it’s time to go over the 2024 NFL Draft profile for the Southern Miss running back.
You can see shades of his dad here. Really compact runner that embraces contact and can handle a heavy workload. He’s just not nearly as big, which is kinda a problem given that he’s not faster either. Gore checks in at 5-foot-8, 201, but looks much skinnier than his dad was.
Gore was wrongly not invited to the Senior Bowl. Instead, he lit up the East-West game. Probably was the best player in that game. Won an Award for his performance too. Had a really nice breakout run in that game. We didn’t see Gore do much at the Combine outside of the on-field drills. Don’t have any 40 or leaping numbers. At the Combine, he moved fine but lacked a bit of explosion. No short area burst either.
The production is a check mark. He’s just a better football player than a pure athlete and that’s okay. He’s north of 450 carries in his college career. As a senior, Gore rushed for 1,131 yards on 231 carries and ten touchdowns. He also added three scores in the passing game on 27 receptions for 221 yards. Has the ability to be an every down back but not an ace in pass pro. More of a high floor, low ceiling type of player.
I’d be willing to take Frank Gore Jr. in the 7th round to fill out my running back room. I trust the NFL bloodlines. I trust his toughness and ability to carry the load. Not going to blow you away but he gets the job done. A player that’s slept on for a reason but one that’s going to end up making a difference.
