Former WCW star Buff Bagwell arrested earlier this month
Buff Bagwell’s inner demons have unfortunately caught up with him again.
Best known for his lengthy run in WCW and eventual alignment with the nWo. He notably had a brief stint in WWE, but spent his last active years in multiple promotions. His last singles match was at WXw Superstars Of Wrestling, in 2017. Buff Bagwell notably made a return to the Squared Circle in 2022, where he competed in a Six-Man tag at WrestlePro Alaska.
Bagwell’s struggles with substance abuse have plagued him for decades, and have been on and off. The veteran assured fans that he finally got a grip on his addiction, but he was recently arrested for speeding and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.
According to Cobb County records via WrestlingNews, Buff Bagwell was arrested on the 13th of July and released again by the 15th. It’s currently unclear whether or not the WCW veteran will face charges but both of his transgressions are considered “misdemeanors.”
Last year, Bagwell was helped by WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page and entered a rehab program. He also notably created a new persona, which was highly praised online. Sadly, these factors haven’t made a difference in his long-term recovery.
Buff Bagwell claimed to be six months clean back in March and even planned to undergo surgery later this year. The WCW veteran aimed to have one last run, but his DUI arrest might just have permanently dashed these hopes.
