Five Things the Georgia Bulldogs Must Do to Be 2023 National Champions
The Georgia Bulldogs are a game away from becoming the first back-to-back CFB National Champions in the Playoff era, and the first since 2011-2012. To do so, they must play spoiler to the Cinderella run of the TCU Horned Frogs. While the Bulldogs are the betting favorites, this will not be a walk in the park.
Here are the five key things Georgia must do to etch their place in the history books as the 2023 National Champions and complete the repeat.
1. Don’t Let TCU Get Hot
There may not be a streakier offense in the nation than TCU. Their 41.1 points per game ranks fifth in the country, and they can put points up in a hurry. It is pivotal for the Bulldogs to contain this scoring-in-bunches type offense of the Frogs. If they can slow down this offense and control the tempo, they can come out on top.
2. Protect the Rock
One of the biggest reasons TCU was able to upset Michigan and punch their ticket to the national championship was turnovers. The Frogs forced three turnovers, two of which were pick-sixes.
The Bulldogs have struggled in the turnover category, posting a minus-one turnover differential this year. The game plan should be short to intermediate passes and inside runs against an opportunistic defense that will be thirsty for a turnover.
3. Jalen Carter Must Become a Game Wrecker
The Georgia Bulldogs have the second-best run defense in the country. The Michigan Wolverines had the seventh-best, and they allowed 263 yards on the ground to TCU.
For this game to go the way of the Bulldogs, the defensive line, especially Jalen Carter, must control the point of attack. Carter needs to take the game over and limit the explosive plays up front. If Georgia lets TCU run all over them, this will be a long night.
4. Lean on that Championship Experience
It may sound cliche, but the Georgia Bulldogs have been here before. This is Georgia’s third national championship appearance in the last six years, winning the title last year. This roster is mostly comprised of guys from last year, so they won’t feel the nerves as much as the guys on that TCU sideline.
Let the game come to you, don’t let the pressure of the moment get to them, and let TCU take the weight of the game on their shoulders and see how they respond.
5. Let Brock Bowers Cook
Vendetta Sports Media loves them some Brock Bowers. Bowers is a game-changer when given the ball, which hasn’t always been the case this year. In their game against Ohio State, he had four receptions for 64 yards and no touchdowns.
The Frogs have the 80th-ranked total defense and they rank 92nd in the country in passing defense. Bowers is the best weapon on this offense and can absolutely torch the middle of the field against TCU. His involvement could be huge for the Georgia Bulldogs.
If the Bulldogs do these five things, they will become 2023 national champions.
