Alabama Lands Five-Star Wing Brandon Miller

Class of 2022 five-star wing Brandon Miller has committed to Alabama, per an announcement on CBS Sports HQ and his Instagram. Miller chose Alabama over Kansas, Tennessee State, the G-League and the NBL.

On why he chose the Crimson Tide, Miller emphasized his relationship with the coaching staff to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.

“The bond we’ve built from the jump and how confident I am with them and the feeling I got from them that they can make my dreams come true. I bond with all the coaches. They’re all kind of like older brothers. I called (Nate) Oats two nights ago and told him I’d be committing Monday and his face was unbelievable. I’ve heard that he hasn’t been sleeping because he was stressing because he didn’t think I was going to Bama. Coach Bryan Hodgson is the one recruiting me so he’s been here since the process started.”

He also said that his fandom for Bama football as a child played a role in the decision.

“I grew up watching Alabama football so I’ve always been an Alabama fan,” Miller said. “My dad is excited. He’s been with me since the jump. My whole family is excited.”

Miller is a lanky and athletic wing with a whole lot of upside. He is a willing shooter from distance with solid form, but he is by no means a lights out shooter. Still, he possesses a good enough shot to make opponents respect him from deep, in turn opening up driving lanes. He can guard 1-3 and potentially stretch-fours, but he wants to take that a step further at Alabama. Miller envisions Oats using him as a stretch, “big guard type.” He expects to snag rebounds and create shots for teammates, while also “guarding all five positions” on the defensive end, he told Tipton.

The Antioch, Tennessee native is the second five-star pledge for Oats, joining IMG Academy point guard Jaden Bradley. Miller said that he is recruiting forwards Jarace Walker (No. 13 in 247Sports Composite) and Noah Clowney (No. 62) to join him in Tuscaloosa next season. Clowney is announcing his commitment on Monday evening.
