The Eagles took Saquon Barkley from the division-rival Giants. How should fantasy football managers feel about it? Let’s go over what you need to know.
Dynasty owners of Barkley have to be thrilled. The Giants are a total wasteland and all Barkley was going to do there was rot. Brian Daboll can coach but Daniel Jones has killed this offense. They just don’t move the ball enough with Jones to warrant being a fan of Barkley in the past.
Things are sure different now. I was down on Barkley coming out of college compared to the consensus (and was proven right). However, there is no question that this is his best chance to succeed. This is an upgrade at OL, QB, and game script.
The Eagles spent big for Barkley. This wasn’t some sort of pillow contract. The Eagles wanted him bad. I’d expect heavy volume and the fact that Hurts is a running quarterback should help take some pressure off. Barkley should be used as a pass catcher too only increasing his value. It’s not like Kenneth Gainwell is going to steal points either. If it didn’t happen with Swift, fantasy managers probably shouldn’t worry this time either.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but for the first time ever I’m a buy for Barkley. Honestly, the only thing to really worry about is if Jalen Hurts snipes his touchdowns with the tush push. Barkley should get downgraded because of it but I still like his odds to perform well in the City of Brotherly Love.
