Ex-WWE star arrested for assault: Latest details on charges, court appearance

One-half of AEW’s World Tag Team Champions, former WWE star Cash Wheeler, faces a hefty charge ahead of the promotion’s biggest pay-per-view.

Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood have had one of the most successful tag-team runs in recent pro wrestling history. Currently, the duo is reigning as the AEW World Tag Team Champions, which they’re scheduled to defend at the upcoming All-In pay-per-view. Last year, the duo notably held the Tag Team Championships of AAA Lucha Libre, NJPW and ROH all at the same time, adding to their hefty WWE tag team title reigns.

Earlier reports indicated that Wheeler was arrested over the course of the past 24 hours, but PWInsider has since claimed the arrest took place in July. The report also revealed that the former WWE Tag Team Champion was set to appear for his arraignment today. Footage of the said arrangement has since been released, revealing that the charges and situation were likely not as severe as initially thought.

In the clip below, Cash (Daniel) Wheeler’s attorney requested for a low bond of only $2500 and no contact with the alleged victims. The arraignment also revealed that Wheeler didn’t know the other party involved and that he has no criminal history. The star seemingly only flashed his firearm at the other party, making this a case of road rage and not aggravated assault as initially reported.

It remains to be seen if this will affect his upcoming match at AEW All In, which is set for next week on the 27th of August. Unfortunately, Cash Wheeler isn’t the only former WWE star having run-ins with the law. Ted DiBiase Jr. is facing far more serious charges of fraud and faces up to 45 years in prison.

Note: Breaking news. More to follow.

WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch (Sunny) is facing a 25-year prison sentence

Sytch is best known for her WWE run as Sunny, where she occasionally wrestled but mainly managed talent. Her pairing with her real-life boyfriend, Chris Candido, was how she broke into the industry. Sadly for her, she might be best known for a serious charge of DUI Manslaughter, for which she’s currently facing up to 25 years in jail.

While Ted DiBiase Jr. is facing more jail time than Sytch, her case is arguably more serious. Cash Wheeler seemed to have dodged a serious charge, and if original reports were correct, he could have faced up to five years in prison.
