Some people have it. Some people don’t. Sometimes life is just like American Idol. It doesn’t take that long to figure out if someone can sing. I don’t know exactly what ESPN is thinking after fantasy football guru Matthew Berry left the company. The only thing I do know is ESPN is… OUT OF THEIR MINDS IF THEY THINK FIELD YATES IS CAPABLE OF REPLACING HIM.
I have no idea who’s in charge of programming for fantasy football at ESPN but somebody needs to have a talk with them. I get it. Replacing Matthew Berry is no easy task. I don’t always agree with Berry but he’s the face of fantasy football so you have to respect him to some degree.
Is their answer really Field Yates? Do they think that’s going to go over well? Do they think the common viewer cares what Field has to say? Furthermore, does this now mean that Daniel Dopp is number two? We’re talking about ESPN, right? The worldwide leader in sports feels good about a fantasy football combo of Field and Dopp? K…
Can we just be honest about Field? Seems like a nice guy. I’m sure he’s a great guy. This really isn’t personal. He’s just not entertaining in any way shape or form. He’s got the personality of a dead squid you found on the beach. You can pull up any random video on him to see that.
Field isn’t just boring. Nobody respects him either. I can’t think of a single valid point that Field has brought up that made me question a viewpoint. Not once. Do we have to bring up the time that Field was interviewing John Wall and he sat there not giving a single F*ck deciding to play cards instead? Does anybody else remember that? Only a no-talent dead squid like Field lets John Wall do that to him.
I don’t know what ESPN is thinking but they better find a solution fast. Berry carried their fantasy football department. It’s already a bad enough product that they think snake drafts are the end-all-be-all. It’s not just a bad product anymore with misguided segments. Now we have dead squids running the show. ESPN is about to get a big wake up call if they honestly believe that Field Yates is built to be the number one fantasy analyst at a major network. Nobody with a brain believes that’s the case.
