Okay, it’s not THE lowest of his career, but it is the lowest of his career since he started having starter minutes. There’s plenty that I love about the Bucks team. I love Giannis Antekounmpo, Khris Middleton, their small market and their tenacity. Despite the love that I have for them, I don’t love them to win the championship. You might think that is crazy given their record and how well they are playing. However, the only good thing about doing well in the regular season is that it helps your seeding. Once you get to the playoffs, the environment is changed and the circumstances are different. You play a team in a best of 7 series that will learn and gameplan against you every game. Great coaching can dissect a team that doesn’t have a lot of talent like the Bucks. Now, you’re wondering what the hell this has to do with Eric Bledsoe, well, let me explain.
Eric Bledsoe Stats
As mentioned before, Eric Bledsoe is averaging career lows since he has started playing starter minutes in his career. He is averaging 14.8 PPG on 48% shooting, 5.1 APG, and 4.5 RPG. No, these are exactly the worst stats, but the amount of talent is thin on this team. If Eric Bledsoe isn’t stepping up, I cannot see how the Bucks can win the Championship. It was expected that someone would have to step up their production when Malcolm Brogdon left because he didn’t feel valued. However, no one has quite done that.
When teams don’t have superior talent on the bench come playoff time, I don’t expect that many teams to win. Benches are so important in the playoffs because you need to outmaneuver the opposing coach’s gameplan. That is easier to do when you have so many options that can do so many things. But the Bucks don’t have that. Their best players are, of course, Giannis, Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Eric Bledsoe. If they didn’t win the championship last year WITH Malcolm Brogdon, I don’t see how they do it this year. Especially if Eric Bledsoe is posting career lows and not increasing his production. But maybe I am wrong, it just doesn’t happen very often.
