Duke freshman star Paolo Banchero has yet to play a game for the Blue Devils, but that hasn’t impeded him from becoming the first collegiate player featured on NBA 2K, per a video posted by Banchero on Instagram.
The Seattle native was a consensus top-five recruit in the country and enters Durham with high expectations. He will be the catalyst for a Duke team that is looking to end Coach K’s illustrious career on the ultimate high note: a national championship.
According to Boardroom, Banchero will have his own character in the game and many are speculating that this new deal could lead to the return of the beloved College Hoops 2K. The advent of NIL has certainly opened the door for such an occasion and the 19-year-old is helping lay the groundwork for such a return.
The 6-10 forward can play all five positions on the court and fans of Duke could soon have the ability to see how is real game translates into the virtual realm. Duke and Banchero will open the 2021-22 college basketball season in a star-studded match-up against fellow blue blood Kentucky on Nov. 9 in the Champions Classic.
