Drew Doughty Is Terrified Of The Jonathan Quick Revenge Tour In Vegas
Drew Doughty won two Stanley Cups (2012 & 2014) with Jonathan Quick in net. If Doughty wants to win a third ring, he’s likely going to have to do so while defeating Quick in the playoffs.
In case you have been living under a rock, the Kings dumped Quick to Columbus in the Jonas Korpisalo deal. Vegas later swooped in and grabbed Quick once he was dealt to the Blue Jackets. The only thing that’s clear is the fact that Doughty is openly terrified of the Quick revenge tour in Vegas.
“I’m a little scared of the fire he’s probably going to have in his belly if we do play him,” Doughty said, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Helene Elliott. “It’s not going to be easy, but you gotta do what you gotta do.”
“The last two days it’s affected us a lot. It’s really sad and unexpected. And it sucks seeing one of your best friends of your life leave,” he said, per Elliott. “Just so many emotions.
“It sucked. That’s the bottom line. Never wanted to see (Quick) go. Expected to play with him the rest of my career. … It’s business.”
Quick made his first start on Sunday in an eventual win over Montreal. New King Korpisalo also won his debut as well. Vegas and LA are the one and two seeds currently in the Pacific division. They could be on a crash course toward facing each other. Quick is having a down year but in Vegas, he has much more blue-line support. He’s also at his best during the pressure moments. It’s a great veteran to have in the room regardless.
