Drafting Shemar Stewart In The First Round Would Be An Idiotic Mistake

Hi, Trey here. I did a quick Draft Busters record today and am going to cut the three segments into individual parts. For the full live stream, feel free to view that here. One topic I cover that really needs to be talked about is this idiotic idea that Shemar Stewart belongs in the first round. I go on a full rant that you can see in the video below.

This one really isn’t arguable. The former Texas A&M product has shown us zero evidence that he’s actually a good football player, and if you watch him, there are many times you wonder if it’s a Freaky Friday situation.

Beyond that, everyone seems to be ignoring the human element in all of this. Selecting a player in the first round who has essentially zero production is a HORRIBLE precedent to set in your locker room. Being an organization that rewards traits over production is a dangerous game to play that will get your ass fired before you even realize it. I can promise you that.

Why Drafting Ashton Jeanty Should Be Considered A Non-Starter

I understand being enamored with the pure tools here. I’m not going to tell you that you’re crazy for buying into that stuff. Just as long as you’re smart enough to recognize it shouldn’t be drafted any higher than the third round. If you disagree, I don’t know how to say this any other way other than by saying you’re simply uneducated on how all of this stuff works.
