You know the deal by now. Don’t Eat The Cheese returns to talk about the 2023 fantasy football busts at the tight end position. We’re crossing names off the list. Let’s get right to it.
Cole Kmet (Chicago Bears)
I put this tweet out yesterday because it needs to be said. I think people need to understand that Cole Kmet sucks. Bottom line, end of story. The metrics don’t lie. He’s pretty much the worst player in the league at getting open.
Imagine giving Cole Kmet that type of money when he legitimately sucks ass. Ryan Poles has the IQ of a dead snail that got salt poured on it. Only a matter of time before he’s canned. Bears are screwed. https://t.co/8wJiw6oT4j pic.twitter.com/UCYcGwAuEL

I don’t know who needs to hear it but please start paying attention. I’m really trying to help you. Kmet has been a bad player since he was in college. We’re allowed to acknowledge the guy sucks. There isn’t a single piece of data that suggests Cole Kmet is a good football player. It’s all nonsense.
If you need more reasons, I’ll happily remind you that Kmet plays for the Bears. A team that threw the ball the fewest number of times in the league last year. Chicago also signed Robert Tonyan so Kmet is splitting reps now too. Taking Kmet makes literally no sense but will remain highly ranked for no reason at all.
Dalton Schultz (Houston Texans)
Dalton Schultz is in Houston now and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Houston still stinks and I just don’t trust them to put up points. I really don’t want anything Houston related fantasy wise. Plus I think Schultz had a down year in 2022 with the Cowboys racking just 577 yards and five scores. That’s not really helping you.
I don’t think Houston is giving up on Brevin Jordan either. Is CJ Stroud ready to play? All of the Ohio State guys have struggled to transition as rookies. If Stroud isn’t putting up numbers, how is Schultz viable?
Kyle Pitts (Atlanta Falcons)
Arthur Smith is a fraud and he’s tipped his hand. Until Smith is gone, I don’t think I can buy Pitts stock. Does anybody remember this from last year?
31st in passing attempts last year and wants to use the tight end as a decoy. Why would I want to rip my hair out again? Smith has told you how he feels and I just don’t see how it changes until he’s fired.
Mark Andrews (Baltimore Ravens)
This is more of a targets issue than a Mark Andrews issue. We’re talking about a team that just added Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham. They already had Devin Duvernay and Rashod Bateman. Andrews had 153 targets in 2021 when he was a fantasy darling. That number came crashing down to 113 last year.
Now the offense is changing even more under Todd Monken. It’s going to be more spread and less tight end centric. I can’t see how it’s good news for Andrews. If you want Andrews in fantasy, you basically have to spend resources like he’s Kelce and he’s just not on that level.
I like Andrews but he’s still ranked way too high and I don’t like how the circumstances have changed for the worse in his favor.
