Does Size Matter? Will Levis Has Massive Mitts

Levis has 10-and-a-half-inch hands according to PFT Commenter’s measurement on his phone. Here is the quote from Levis about his massive mitts:

I do know I have big hands, I think it’s anywhere between 10 and a quarter to 10 and a half. So I knew I would’ve had I think one of the bigger hands in the draft class next year. – Will Levis on Pardon My Take.

Will Levis would not have had one of the bigger hands in last year’s draft class, he would have had the largest hands by half an inch! Out of all the quarterbacks who went to last year’s scouting combine, only one quarterback had 10-inch hands, and that was Desmond Ridder. Kenny Pickett was the only quarterback to go in the first round and he had 8-and-a-half-inch hands at the combine, according to CBS Sports’ listings.

Could Levis actually have hands bigger than this? PFT Commenter keeps that possibility open but at the very least the floor seems to be 10.5 inches for the Kentucky quarterback.

My phone sometimes makes things not as long as you would think when you measure them. It’s a legit 10 and a half. – PFT Commenter on Pardon My Take.

First things first, back in February I said that yes size does matter. This was in direct relation to my Kenny Pickett quarterback evaluation, and it showed when Pickett had to play in the rain and he struggled. It happened in the senior bowl, and it happened in Pittsburgh’s loss to the Miami Dolphins this season. Small hands are a problem. Pickett’s best games in his rookie year, so far, have come at Indianapolis and at Atlanta, both inside a dome. Small hands make it difficult, but do the massive mitts on Will Levis make him a better prospect? Not necessarily.

Ultimately, the massive mitts on Will Levis could fail him. Judging from what I have on him for the draft, he has raw arm strength and a bit of athleticism but not much refinement. It doesn’t matter how big it is if your performance stinks.
