Does Justin Herbert Have More Fantasy Value With Joe Lombardi Now?

Justin Herbert had a fantastic rookie season. Despite having a literal dunce at HC in Anthony Lynn, Justin Herbert was still a top 10 fantasy QB, coming in at 9th. Honestly, losing Anthony Lynn is addition by subtraction. That in itself might be good enough to spring Justin Herbert into the top 5 QB conversation. Not convinced? Don’t worry. I have more.

What about the fact he still has Mike Williams and Keenan Allen there? Instead of Anthony Lynn, the Chargers have Joe Lombardi now. Joe Lombardi was the QB coach for the Saints since 2016 before landing the Offensive Coordinator job in Los Angeles. The Saints have had a great offense for years, and there’s no way Joe Lombardi can do worse than Lynn. Austin Ekeler will finally be healthy for a whole season, hopefully. With Ekeler receiving out of the backfield, that only makes their offense scarier. While the void of Hunter Henry might hurt, the Chargers did salvage some of the loss with the addition of the aging Jared Cook.

Justin Herbert is a very different player than his Oregon days

I’m not sure what’s not to love with Justin Herbert here. Sure, it is his 2nd season in the NFL. Most rookie QBs see a dip in their progress as NFL defenses have film on them and plan better for them. There’s also the fact that he hasn’t been against an away crowd either. Those are really my only two concerns. However, I think this Chargers team is talented enough to really help Justin Herbert here. He has plenty of weapons at his disposal with a capable guy calling in the offense. The only way is up for Justin Herbert here.
