Some wondered if DK Metcalf had the NFL talent to succeed in the NFL. We knew, of course, that his physical capabilities were off the charts. That doesn’t always mean they’ll be good in the NFL though. Metcalf seems to be the exception to that. DK doesn’t always have the best route running. It isn’t sharp and he doesn’t get much separation that way. However, his hands are decent and he is fast and huge. He is definitely the speed threat and RedZone target for the Seattle Seahawks. Besides Russell Wilson loves DK Metcalf.
DK Metcalf 2019
DK had a great rookie season with the Seahawks. He was borderline the 2nd option behind Tyler Lockett. He was 100 yards short of 1,000 yards receiving and only had 58 receptions. But in most fantasy football leagues, touchdowns wins games. That is where DK did well at in 2019. Even though he had 58 receptions, he had 7 TDs. For context, that ties with DeAndre Hopkins, and Tyreek Hill. Hopkins had almost double the amount of receptions than DK as well. He had more TDs than Julio Jones, Adam Thielen, and Keenan Allen. DK Metcalf may not be the biggest name, but man gets his touchdowns.
Final Assessment
DK Metcalf can be a good asset to most fantasy football teams. The problems is getting him for the right price. He should not be anywhere near a WR1, I’d even be skeptical to have him as a solid WR2. I think he’s on the lower end of a WR2, but one of the best, if not the best, WR3 you can find this year. In PPR, get your guys that get those receptions, yards, and TDs, and when you need that 3rd receiver, DK should be there. Just don’t get him too early to miss out on better fantasy value.
