D.J. Uiagalelei Transfers To Florida State

With Jordan Travis departing from Florida State, the Seminoles had to go out and find his replacement. Well, it did not take long for the school to find their next guy, as Oregon State transfer D.J. Uiagalelei announced his transfer to Florida State.

Uiagalelei broke the news Monday through ESPN’s Pete Thamel. It will be Uiagalelei’s second transfer during his time in college, originally started his career at Clemson before transferring to the Beavers.

Last season, Uiagalelei flashed some promise, throwing for 2,638 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions; a 57.1% competing percentage isn’t ideal, but he should improve that number at Florida State.

Uiagalelei emerged as a highly sought-after prospect in the 2020 recruiting class, earning a coveted five-star rating, per 247sports.com. He secured the 2nd overall position in 247’s rankings, claimed the 10th spot in 247’s composite rankings and held the distinction of being the highest-rated pro-style QB. He will be in a much better system and should be able to raise his draft stock in 2024.

The transfer to Florida State for DJ Uiagalelei *should* be a great pairing, but time will tell if this is the best fit for him. I believed early on that he could land somewhere like Ohio State. However, it is not hard to see why he chose to take his talents to Tallahassee, Fla; it will have a top defense again next year, the offense reloads with some great weapons, and the ACC might be slightly weaker in 2024.

This move will be his best shot to bring some hype surrounding his future prospects as an NFL QB. A big year for the Seminoles could do just that. Don’t be surprised if D.J. Uiagalelei does some damage with the Seminoles and revives his draft stock.
