DJ LeMahieu finally has been signed by the New York Yankees. The deal is for six years, $90 million dollars. After slow negotiations and DJ waiting forever for the Yankees to come close to what he wanted they finally made it work.
Well, looks like I don’t have to riot outside of Yankee Stadium anymore. Brian Cashman finally got it done and paid the man that just won the American League Batting Title. Since DJ has joined the Yankees in 2019, he has posted batting averages of .327 and .364 and has 129 RBI’s in 800 At-Bats.
When DJ first arrived in New York he was supposed to be a utility player, but that quickly changed with all of the injuries in 2019. Next thing we know DJ is batting above .300, hitting with runners in scoring position, and playing great defense. It was a huge change of pace from the home-run or nothing players the Yankees have.
Nevertheless, this signing was absolutely vital for the Yankees to be back in the World Series picture. Lord knows if DJ signed with the Mets I would’ve been highly upset. However, that has finally been put to bed. Cashman did what he was supposed to do.
I was very scared that the Yankees wouldn’t sign him and Cashman would let him walk. Well, for my sanity and the sanity of all Yankee fans. The best player on the team over the last two seasons is back and is locked up for six years. The World Series is back on and hopefully come baseball season we can have Yankee Stadium filled with fans to welcome our newest Yankee lifer.
DJ is locked up in pinstripes from now on. My anxiety can finally go down. With Spring Training right around the corner, Yankee fans can look forward to the new season once again.
