Dexter Lawrence is Displeased with Giants QB Move

There are mixed opinions on the Giant’s recent decision to bench QB Daniel Jones. Most (Myself included) thought it was about time the Giants moved on from the former sixth-overall pick. Co-Giant Dexter Lawrence doesn’t seem to favor the team’s recent change at QB, as he voiced his displeasure with it to reporters at a local charity event.

Per The New York Times, when asked about the move at QB, Lawrence said, “That’s my best friend. It’s tough for that to happen. I can’t control it. They made the decision based off their evaluations and their thoughts and feelings. … That’s my boy. As a player, you got to keep playing. As a human and as a brother, I feel for him.”

Daniel Jones is Still the Team’s Best QB?

Lawrence made it known that he still believes number eight is the best QB on the Giants roster as he continued, “He’s the QB1. To me, the best quarterback on the team…but they see things differently. I guess that’s all that matters.” Even if Jones is a better quarterback than Tommy DeVito, which is debatable, it’s in the Giant’s best interest to lose games at this point. He continued, stating that the team as a whole was perplexed by the decision.

Daniel Jones and Dexter Lawrence were the Giant’s two first-round picks in 2019, going sixth and seventeenth overall. Lawrence is still playing very good football, ranking second in the NFL in sacks this season with nine. Jones, on the other hand, has likely started his last game for New York, potentially anywhere.

In his defense, Jones had a rough go of it last season. He missed three games with a neck issue before tearing his ACL, ending his campaign.

The Giant’s first game with Tommy DeVito under center is Sunday when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to Metlife stadium.
