Deshaun Watson Undergoes Shoulder Surgery, Out For Remainder Of 2023-24 NFL Season
The Cleveland Browns are going to have to go through the rest of the 2023-24 NFL Season without Deshaun Watson. The former Clemson product is having shoulder surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.
The team account of the Browns were the first to report the news:
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network also added that Watson’s shoulder was literally on the verge of completely falling apart. One more shot to that arm could have done just that. The positive news for Cleveland is that Watson is expected to make a full recovery for the 2024-25 NFL Season.
Watson, 28, completed 61.4% of his throws for 1,115 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions on the season. Watson has played in just 12 games for Cleveland during his first two years there. That’s while being under a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract.
$90 million of work to play in 11 games. Deshaun Watson is living the dream while also getting to be a bad person at the same time. Just incredible. Watson really using every bit of that guaranteed contract to his advantage, huh?
PJ Walker is expected to take over as the starter. If the season really goes down the drain, maybe the rookie out of UCLA, Dorian Thompson-Robinson will get an extended look.
Cleveland has just been hammered by injuries. Losing Nick Chubb was bad enough. Losing both starting tackles was bad enough. This is just the cherry on top.
