Dave Portnoy hates the Empire State Building and apparently the feeling is mutual. Somehow a prior feud has been taken up a notch. For those unaware, Portnoy already had a beef heading into this next story that we’re about to talk about. Portnoy wasn’t exactly fond of the Empire State Building with the way the Tyler O’Day situation went down…
But wait there’s more!
On Sunday, the Empire State Building lit its building green to celebrate the Eagles heading to the Super Bowl. The only problem is they’re basically celebrating the success of a division rival one week after the hometown Giants got their teeth kicked in.
Once Portnoy saw this, you just knew that he was going to be in attack mode. I would do the same. It’s not hard to blame him. Pretty embarrassing move to sport Philly green when the hometown Giants just got sacked the week before.
You have to give the ESB (we’re going with that for the rest of the blog. It’s easier to type that way) credit for coming back at Portnoy. Their response was well done. Hey, crying, Dave. Meet crying, Dave!
The next morning Portnoy sent another dig at the ESB. Lighting the building green seemed to upset some of the local newspapers the next day.
You could argue that the ESB did save face. After the Chiefs won the AFC Title game, they shifted the colors to red. That’s for you to interpret.
If the Eagles win the Super Bowl, will they really light the building back to green? Either way, this won’t be the last time Dave Portnoy picks a fight with the Empire State Building. This feud will not end anytime soon.
