Daryl Morey Lists His Trade Demands For James Harden
We know where the priorities lie for James Harden. After being turned down by the Rockets, the cancerous Harden has made it clear he wants the Clippers. How does 76ers head honcho Daryl Morey feel about all of this? Well, he put out a little statement about what he expects in return on a hypothetical Harden package.
VIA 975TheFanatic.com:
“I do have a long relationship with him, and I am attempting to honor that,” Morey said. “If we do look at a trade, it will be for one of two things. Either a player who helps us be right there like we were last year. Up 3-2 on one of the best teams in the East, the Celtics. Obviously, we didn’t get it done, but James is one of the reasons we were up 3-2. Or we are going to do it where we get enough draft picks so we can turn those into a player who can be a running mate with Joel. If we don’t get either – a very good player or something we can turn into a very good player – then we will just not do it.”
I think it’s important to remember that Morey held out a long time the last time he was in this spot. He never rushed to trade Ben Simmons. Instead, he waited it out and eventually landed James Harden. Despite whatever people think of Harden, it’s a massive upgrade over Simmons who looks like he quit on being a functional human instead of just basketball. This thing could take awhile. Morey has proven he won’t rush into a deal just to give Harden his way.
