Daniel Jeremiah’s Top 50 List Is Comically Bad

Quick story time. The official X/Twitter account of the NFL posted a tweet today highlighting Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 big board for the 2025 NFL Draft. But it’s the wording that I want to discuss. Check this out:

We will get to the players and their orders, but look at the tweet’s date. 2/4. The wording says, “has released his initial top 50”. Naturally, you’d think that the list just came out today, right? WRONG. This list came out on 1/28. My theory? Jeremiah asked the NFL social media guys to push his list but didn’t want to at first because of how laughable it is. It’s comically bad. But Jeremiah is a big wig, so he gets his wish and has it posted including the link. To save time and energy, I will link the article here, but I’ll go over some of the egregious placements of prospects.

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State (3rd overall)

I’m sorry, but Ashton Jeanty potentially isn’t even in the top 25 of the best players in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he’s somehow third. He isn’t even the best running back in the class (another discussion for another time). The same player who fumbled nine times over two seasons is somehow the third-best player in the draft? Give me a break. This defensive class is loaded, and to say he’s better than some of the killers on defense is atrocious.

Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State (5th overall)

I think I am in on Tyler Warren in the sense I think he could be a quality pro. He’s nowhere close to the level of Brock Bowers like some believe he is, but I think he has the tools necessary to be a good starter in the NFL. But fifth overall is hilarious. We already know he didn’t watch the playoff games this year, so he surely didn’t watch any Warren tape as of late. In the piece for NFL.com, he said that Warren reminds him of Rob Gronkowski. That’s a bit of a stretch, don’t you think?

*I actually like him listing Georgia LB Jalon Walker at six. I will have a similar ranking for him when I release my big board. Stay tuned*

Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan (7th Overall)

There’s been this weird trend lately where people are saying that this tight-end class this year is stacked. I severely beg to differ. There are MAYBE four in this class I would draft with a premium pick (rounds 1-3) and that’s it. Clearly, Daniel Jeremiah believes this class is legendary as he has two tight ends in the top ten. If Colston Loveland could have declared last season, a high ranking would have made sense. But his draft stock took a slight hit this season, clearly not for some.

Jahade Barron, CB, Texas (9th Overall)

Four seriously brain-dead picks in the top ten, oof. Someone needs to cut off Jeremiah’s supply of whatever he takes if he thinks Jahade Barron is a top-ten player in this draft. If you want to take an eventual nickel corner high, like top-ten high, be my guest. But that GM might be out of a job in a few years. Barron is likely in the CB4-6 range, nowhere near the top ten of a 2025 NFL Draft big board.

Matthew Golden, WR, Texas (24th Overall)

We stick with the Texas players, as Daniel Jeremiah rides the bandwagon on Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden. States at the top of the paragraph for Golden that he is average in size. Goes on to say he lacks dynamic traits. I’m sorry, but if I am to believe in a prospect to take him in the first round, he needs to be even a little dynamic, regardless of position. ESPECIALLY at wide receiver. “I love his temperament – he plays with an edge”. What lazy analysis. He’s dependable. Boring.

Shemar Stewart, EDGE, Texas A&M (27th Overall)

Maybe I’m just not caught up on the times, who knows. Traits are a massive part of scouting. If you have the tools that make you stand out on tape, I can sometimes overlook a slight lack of production. But Shemar Stewart doesn’t just have a lack of production, he has basically no production. Three years in college, 4.5 TOTAL SACKS to show for it. One forced fumble. He has to have Micah Parsons-level traits to make me consider drafting this kid on day two, let alone day one, and he’s somehow getting a first-round grade? Okay.

Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina (29th Overall)

We continue to overlook the best running back in the class; we will get to him later. Somehow, Daniel Jeremiah has two running backs worth first-round picks, as he has former Tar Heel Omarion Hampton at 29th overall. Vision is a huge part of the toolset for a running back, and this dude needs to borrow my glasses when he has the ball. Vision just isn’t where it needs to me. Likely in the RB5-7 range, Hampton has no right being this high on anyone’s board.

*For the sake of time, we will work through 32-50 and just do quick hitters*

Malaki Starks at 33 is laughable. One of the best defenders in the class, and the far and away best safety, should be well higher up this board.

Mason Taylor at 35 is bad enough that it should make most readers close out. At least, for readers who follow the sport. Day three pick all day long.

TreVeyon Henderson, the RB1 in the class this year, being the FOURTH running back for Daniel Jeremiah only furthers our agenda that this dude doesn’t know ball whatsoever. To be fair, he did prove he doesn’t watch tape at all, let alone playoff games.

Carson WHO at 37? The UCLA kid, no I am not attempting to spell his name, makes zero sense. Another day three prospect who will go way higher than he should because clowns like Daniel Jeremiah push names out to grab headlines. Be better than this.

Josh Conerly at 38 is way too low. In contention for OT3 in the class, he belongs in first round conversation.

Finally, our first quarterback, as Jeremiah has Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart at 41. The social media darling right now will likely be selected within the top 40 picks of the draft, which will be a mistake. This is a third-to-fourth prospect, who talent-wise, you can argue belongs on a top-50 list but projection-wise is not a top-50 player right now.

Benjamin Morrison at 45, proves that recency bias is real. Morrison should still be considered among the best cornerbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and yes, he likely lands in this range because of the hip surgery, but I am still way in on Morrison. Bump him up.

Just a word of advice for the readers out there: please stop giving engagement to guys like Daniel Jeremiah. We at Vendetta have not only proven to you that Jeremiah is terrible at what he does, but that we are the home for the best NFL Draft content you can find.
