D’Andre Swift: Fantasy Football Value With Bears?
D’Andre Swift has signed with the Bears but what does it mean for his fantasy football value? Let’s talk about it. There are so many deals that are about to drop on free agency so let’s not waste any time on the intro paragraph.
For starters, no more tush push! Swift had five touchdowns last year and if he stays healthy, that number should climb. Especially as the lead back with no real threat in the backfield. Khalil Herbert is a nice player but he likely will be placed in short yardage duties. Plus, the smart people already know that Roschon Johnson stinks.
Last year in Philly, Swift notched 1,049 rushing yards in 16 regular-season games. Add in 214 receiving yards on top of that. On the season, the former Georgia product finished as RB23 on the season. Oh, and he was a big time win in the Matthew Berry challenge for those who care.
You want running backs on good teams and the Bears suck, but I don’t think Swift’s fantasy value takes a dip. If anything, it might take a leg up. Mostly because his touchdowns shouldn’t totally get snipped. You don’t pay Swift this type of money to not use him. Also, Caleb Williams is on his way to Chicago and it’s very possible the Bears get into some shootouts. Either way, the Bears offense will look better with Caleb than it did with Fields (who really struggled to throw the ball).
In terms of fantasy football, Swift should be valued as a top 15-20 running back and a reliable option for your term. Proceed with caution because running backs just don’t win you fantasy leagues anymore but Swift should perform well. We’re talking about a guy who’s averaging 4.6 yards per carry in his career while providing pass catching value. You can do worse.
