Dan Feldman has the single worst take I have ever read on the Meyers Leonard situation that is going on today.
In case you missed what Leonard did, I wrote about it here. Leonard used an anti-semitic slur while live on Twitch calling someone who was just playing the video game with him a k**e.
Dan Feldman a writer for NBC Sports apparently decided to write this story with zero awareness and absolutely no common sense.
“Leonard used an offensive word. He shouldn’t have done that”
Feldman via NBCSports.com
Uhhh, you think he shouldn’t have done that Dan? You don’t say he should have used a different word to describe someone playing a video game? I get that people say stupid shit on the internet all day, but someone in the NBA should have a little bit of a better vocabulary than slurs to describe people.
But it’s also worth keeping perspective. This wasn’t violence. Unlike Stephen Jackson, Leonard didn’t promote a wider anti-Semitic worldview. Leonard didn’t directly harm anyone”
Feldman via NBCSports.com
I agree this wasn’t as bad as what Stephen Jackson did or said, but to say this didn’t directly harm anyone is BONKERS. How is using a slur that offends an entire religion’s worth of view not harming anyone?
I don’t want to sound soft or come across as someone who gets offended easily, but I used to watch Leonard’s streams, he was always playing with other streamers that I watched daily. Now? No chance I ever turn his stream back on or give him any of my support.
Oh and by the way, the owner of the Miami Heat is Jewish, so there is no chance his slur didn’t offend the guy who signs his checks.
“He shouldn’t face extreme consequences for this single utterance”
I don’t know what Feldman determines “extreme consequences”, but he should be banned on Twitch, meaning not only will he not be allowed to stream on the platform, he won’t be able to play with people who are streaming.
