Dalvin Cook wants his Super Bowl ring and has chosen his next destination in order to try to do it. Cook and the Jets agreed to part ways just before the final week of the season. Cook has since cleared waivers and has decided that he wants to sign with the Ravens.
Cook’s agency has revealed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he will sign with Baltimore.
Cook, 28, signed with the Jets on a one-year deal worth $7 million. The former Florida State product finished with 214 rushing yards, two lost fumbles, and no touchdowns on 67 carries. Through 15 games, Cook also reeled in 15 catches for 78 yards.
Cook has not performed well this year, but this is a great landing spot. It also comes at the perfect time for the Ravens. Keaton Mitchell was such a spark to the offense and losing him for the season really hurts. Cook can now come in and sort of fill that role. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill might still get a lion’s share of the work. However, I think it stands to reason that Cook is a much better option than Melvin Gordon.
Does Cook have anything left or were the Jets totally at fault? This is going to be a good barometer of that. The Ravens are one of the better run organizations in the league. If Cook fails in Baltimore, maybe he is really done. If Cook explodes during the playoffs with Baltimore, I think we’re all going to have another laugh at how embarrassing the Jets are.
