Keaton Mitchell Ruled Out For Season With Knee Injury
I think the moment we saw this, it was going to end up being bad news for Keaton Mitchell.
To the surprise of exactly no one, the injury sustained on that play will cost Mitchell the rest of the season. The former East Carolina product has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2023-24 NFL Season.
John Harbaugh said this to the media revealing the awful news.
“It looks like he won’t be back for the rest of this season,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said.
“It’s heartbreaking,” Harbaugh said. “He’s just got a great attitude and demeanor about him, and it’s a guy that he wants to do well. He deserves to do well.”
Take this for whatever it’s worth but Harbaugh also claims to be a believer in Melvin Gordon. It’s Gordon who will take Mitchell’s spot on the active roster.
“He’s been working super hard,” Harbaugh said of Gordon. “He’s in great shape and he’ll be ready to go.”
This is a tough blow for Mitchell who was really starting to turn the corner late in the season. If you have been reading this site for awhile, you know that I was really high on Mitchell coming out of college. It was criminal that guy didn’t get drafted.
Mitchell, 21, will finish his rookie campaign averaging a staggering 8.4 yards per carry on 47 attempts. We’ll see what the Ravens running back room looks like next year. Even with the injury, Mitchell should be viewed as a must-have in long-term fantasy leagues.
