Chalk up another win for scout Trey. Dalton Kincaid is exactly who I thought he would be. The world is just finally catching up now. A guy who should have been picked in the fourth round was miscast as a blue chip tight end prospect, and it’s officially time to declare a winner in the projection. Nobody has been more right about Kincaid than I have been.
*With the small caveat that I bought in somewhat in terms of fantasy simply because Josh Allen is throwing him the ball.*
It turns out, even the best quarterback in the league can’t save Kincaid for himself. There’s no hiding it anymore. Brandon Beane already admitted it’s a blown pick. It’s one thing to take Kincaid in the first round. It was another to trade up for him. There’s no hindsight bias here. Trey tried to warn you.
Kincaid, 25, is still young enough to maybe turn this puppy around, but the idea he’s going to live up to his draft status is gone. That’s never happening. We’re talking about a guy who posted a 58% catch rate last year at 10.2 yards per catch. He’s just not that good and single-handedly killed the season in the playoffs. At this point, Kincaid is your TE2 backup option in fantasy and nothing more. I just want to know why more people aren’t talking about the fact that maybe this should be a warning shot of things to come with a particular rookie in the 2025 class…
