The Dallas Mavericks will not play the National Anthem before home games. Becoming the first pro sports team to stop playing it.

It doesn’t matter if a player kneels or stands anymore, I can deal witht that. But not playing the National Anthem, before a sports game is taking it a little too far. I mean you’re playing in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

According to a source:

“The Mavericks did not publicize the decision to cease playing the national anthem and TheAthletic.com apparently became the first media organization to notice Monday night.”

“The NBA rules require players to stand during the anthem, but the league has not enforced it in recent years, allowing players to kneel in protest of social injustice.”

Although, there is no rule anywhere where a sports team has to play the National Anthem. It has become a tradition out of respect to the men and women fighting for our freedom.

At the beginning of the season, when every NBA team kneeled for the national anthem. One player stood. But don’t go hating on him, because he stood for good reasons. Read the post:

The biggest thing in question here is how Mark Cuban, got away with doing this without consulting with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

I am the same person, that still thinks the pledge of allegiance should still be played in school.

Should the National Anthem be played before games or are the Dallas Mavericks making the right decision?

I’m going to go with the first option. The National Anthem should be played, as long as we come together as a unified country. Now, I understand that half of the professional athletes in the world today are not from America. But the National Anthem has nothing to do with Sports, and nothing to do with politics or race.

The National Anthem should be played at sporting events out of respect and honor for those that have and are fighting for the freedom of this great country.

Update: The NBA commissioners has made the following statement.
