Dallas Cowboys Will Be Featured On Hard Knocks 2021

The Dallas Cowboys have been chosen to be on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” per Adam Schefter. The five-episode season will feature “America’s Team” and the most polarizing owner in the NFL, Jerry Jones. This will be the Cowboys’ third time on Hard Knocks after making appearances in 2002 and 2008. Vice President and Senior Coordinating Director of NFL films, Ken Rodgers, had this to say about the decision to pick Dallas. 

“The Cowboys are one of the most storied franchises in NFL history and a team that elicits strong reactions from fans around the world.” “Tens of millions of fans love them, but just as many people love to hate them. Either way, when the Cowboys show up people watch, which makes them perfect for Hard Knocks.

Dallas had a rough 2020 season, going 6-10 and missing the playoffs in Mike McCarthy’s first year as head coach. They lost star quarterback and Jordan Brand’s newest NFL athlete Dak Prescott to injury, Ezekiel Elliott looked like a shell of himself and the once-dominant offensive line could not stay healthy. 

McCarthy made a foolish mistake in 2020 by bringing in his buddy Mike Nolan as his defensive coordinator. The Dallas defense looked indifferent when it came to tackling and could not stop a nose bleed. They drafted linebacker Micah Parsons and brought in former Falcons head coach Dan Quinn to be the DC so the defense should improve.

Whether you love the Cowboys or love to hate them, you have to admit this Hard Knocks will be intriguing. With Prescott returning from injury, Elliot trying to reclaim his elite running back status, and a total revamping of the Dallas defense, it will be hard to look away from this potential tire fire. This offense has a ton of firepower, but the Cowboys will only be successful if the defense holds up its end of the bargain. HBO’s Hard Knocks returns on August 10th at 10pm EST.
