Dak Prescott is leaving Adidas after five years to sign with Jordan Brand. Prescott signed a five-year deal with Jordan, becoming the only quarterback and the highest-paid NFL player to sport the Jumpman logo. According to ESPN, Prescott already has agreements with Anheuser-Busch InBev, Pepsi, Sleep Number, Dannon Yogurt, Campbell’s Soup, 7-Eleven, AT&T, and Beats By Dre. He is is every marketer’s dream: likable and respectful.
The football world reacted with an outpouring of support when Prescott when down with an injury in Week Five against the Giants. He is the heart and soul of the Cowboys and his teammates swear by his character. After his injury, I could not help but wonder if Prescott had made a mistake not signing a long-term deal, but Prescott was rewarded in the form of a 4 year, $160 million contract this offseason of which he deserves every penny. If it were not for his injury, he would have had a historic season – the team was not winning but Prescott had thrown for almost 2,000 yards in a mere four and a half games. I will be rooting for Prescott this season but let me be clear: I am rooting for Dak Prescott as a player, not the Dallas Cowboys.
