Dak Prescott told Jane Slater that he wants to be paid similar to Patrick Mahomes.
On The Dan Patrick Show, Slater was discussing the future for the Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback who is in the midst of contract negotiations. The Cowboys have already used the franchise tag on Prescott before, and if they choose to use the tag for the second time that will cost them about $37.7 million dollars.
“Now he is looking to be paid right behind Patrick Mahomes, a guy who has gone to the Super Bowl two years in a row, Dak has not done that yet so [the Cowboys] feel like it a respectable offer. [Dak’s] camp believes that he needs to bear what the market value is, and they feel like this deal should have gotten done two years ago, so your problems with money are not our problems, it’s about respect”.
Jane Slater on The Dan Patrick Show
I am all for a player getting what they deserve when it comes to contract negotiations, but Dak and his camp are out of their mind if they think he is on the same level as Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes has only 8 losses as a starter versus Prescott’s 27 and Mahomes has more touchdown passes than Prescott in 23 less starts. Also, Prescott has thrown 16 more interceptions.
“Last years money, was in the ballpark of Russell Wilson / Jared Goff type money”
Slater
I mean that is fair, he is better than Goff, and Wilson is underpaid in my opinion, but that is a GIGANTIC leap in comparison right now when Mahomes is the clear-cut best player in the league.
TL//DR: Dak Prescott wants Patrick Mahomes money and that guy and his camp need a hardcore reality check.
