Cutter Gauthier Deemed As Only Flyers Untouchable Player
Danny Briere is not messing around. Out of every single player in the Flyers organization, there is only one untouchable player on the roster. That man is Boston College product, Cutter Gauthier. Ivan Provorov has already been dealt and it feels like he won’t be the last well-known name dealt on the roster.
Frank Seravalli had the following to say after he dropped his latest trade board on Daily Faceoff:
“The Flyers could well be one of the NHL’s biggest movers and shakers over the next two weeks.”
“New Flyers general manager Danny Briere is ready to deal. The Flyers are about to embark on a rebuild and Briere wants to be aggressive to get the ball rolling. Sources say he’s been actively listening and engaging in trade talks on a whole host of players on his roster, and was potentially close to a deal involving Kevin Hayes in the last few days. The Flyers’ only untouchable: Cutter Gauthier.”
“Everyone else has a price, some higher than others. If the price is met, Briere won’t be afraid to pull the trigger. Briere will also attempt to weaponize the Flyers’ cap space and take on bad contracts in exchange for assets, as evidenced by the additions of Cal Petersen and Sean Walker from Los Angeles.”
Travis Konency, Tony D’Angelo, Kevin Hayes, Scott Laughton, Carter Hart, and Travis Sanheim are listed as prime candidates to be moved this offseason on Seravalli’s trade board.
The Flyers selected Gauthier fifth overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. It obviously makes sense that he would be one guy Philadelphia would want to hang onto given the rebuild that’s on the way.
