Could Matt Ryan Be A Top 10 Fantasy QB In 2021?
Matt Ryan is older than I thought. Everyone that was saying that the Falcons should have taken a QB in the 2021 NFL Draft had a point. The counterpoint to that is that the Falcons had a chance to take Kyle Pitts, a sure-fire Hall of Famer before he even plays his first snap. Falcons will have to get a QB eventually, but Matt Ryan will suffice for a couple more years. In the meantime, the Falcons receiving core is one of the best in the NFL with Kyle Pitts. One has to wonder if Matt Ryan will be a top 10 fantasy QB.
Let’s look at it for a moment. Great receiving core, no run game, and horrible defense. That’s like the Holy Trinity of picking a great fantasy QB. Unless you think Mike Davis is the savior of the running game for the Falcons, what more do we have to talk about here? The Falcons will have to throw to keep them in games, that just means more fantasy points for Matt Ryan. Julio Jones might not even be the best WR on his team anymore. That’s how good Calvin Ridley is. Now, they’ve added Kyle Pitts?! Come on man, stop it.
In 2020, Ryan wasn’t bad either. He was 12th of all fantasy QBs. That was without Kyle Pitts and an injured Julio Jones. There’s no way he can do worse with more weapons. He already had the most passing attempts this last year. He should easily top 10 and might be a really underrated fantasy QB.
Matt Ryan might not be the way to go for a dynasty league unless it’s for a couple more years, but as far as 2021 goes: Matt Ryan is a safe bet. He will have to throw early and often to keep the Falcons in games. With that trio of receiving options, the real question is how is he not top 10?
