This Interior Offensive Line class is loaded. You are going to be able to find some nice players in the later rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, but where does Kansas State’s Cooper Beebe fall in this class? Before the season started, he was the consensus IOL1 and a shoo-in to be a first-round pick, but his stock cooled slightly this season. What does his draft profile look like? Let’s talk about it.
Beebe, a former three-star recruit out of Kansas City, Kansas committed to the Wildcats back in 2018 and was a part of the 2019 class, playing all five years for the school. Beebe would not take over starting duties until the 2021 season but was a plus performer afterward. Over 48 career starts, 18 quarterback hurries, six quarterback hits, and one sack. Stellar when you consider he started his career Left Tackle, which is huge as well.
The ass on Cooper Beebe is what stands out on tape. He always drops it low, getting anchored in against those bull rushers. Hand placement is super clean, lands hard, and that first punch is mean in a great way. The versatility is huge. He’s solid in run blocking, especially when they pull and he has to get to the second level, but he excels in pass protection. Today’s NFL is pass, pass, pass, so having a Guard who can keep his QB clean can always play for me.
The big complaint about Beebe is the length he has, but playing guard is a non-issue for me. If he had played left tackle his entire career and declared that as well there would be a conversation to have. Not worried. I’d like to see the pads stay a little lower even with how low he already gets. Speed rushers get into his chest but it’s not frequently, so that is just a minor thing to clean up.
I like me some Cooper Beebe. I had him as my IOL1 most of the season until the Senior Bowl emergence of Christian Haynes, who we have covered here. I have a second-round grade on Beebe and would turn in the card in the top 50 of the 2024 NFL Draft. I think he will turn into a plus starter in the NFL and will make a great Guard, especially on the back end of that rookie deal.
