NHL training camps are underway, and practice extends to media availability. Chicago Blackhawks rookie phenom Connor Bedard gave a hilarious answer in a press conference earlier today.
Not Bedard exposing himself in a presser.

The interaction began when the 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick was asked how often he gets recognized around Chicago.
“I’ve been at the rink a lot and going home trying to cook or whatever and figure that out. If I go out here and there, then I get recognized a little but like I said, I’ve been here a lot and been home or at someone’s house a good amount.”
The follow-up question asked Connor Bedard how learning to cook was going and if his mom was giving him any help.
“Yeah, I just kind of Facetime her and put her on the counter and she tells me what to do. She’s making it easy on me, but maybe [I’ll] try to be a little more independent at some point.”
Bedard was then asked what sorts of food he’s been learning to cook, at which point he completely drops the act and hilariously owns up to it.
“Just whatever, like… I haven’t cooked that much. Just something to say here.”
This elicited a big laugh from the room. One media member in the presser lauded Bedard’s tale as a veteran move. Chicago GM Kyle Davidson shares that sentiment, praising the rookie’s maturity earlier this week.
In Bedard’s rookie camp debut, he tallied three goals and and assist in a 5-0 victory. His performances on the ice as well as in the press conferences should have Blackhawks fans excited. Outside of the COVID year Qualifying Round, Chicago has not won a playoff series since their 2015 Stanley Cup title. Is Connor Bedard the savior of the franchise?
