Colin Cowherd woke up today and either decided to smoke crack or troll. It hasn’t been confirmed which path he took but there really isn’t another explanation for this one. Cowturd decided to throw his hat in the fake trade realm again and his idea is totally Looney Tunes.
Check out this cheese from The Herd today.
WTF was that?
A: Cowherd starts his rant by saying the Lakers don’t need Chris Paul. Keep in mind this is weeks after ripping D’Angelo Russell and the only other point guard on the roster (Dennis Schröder) is a free agent. Despite having a very obvious need for a point guard, Cowherd says the Lakers should say no to CP3. That pretty much tells you everything you want to know considering Cowherd resides in LA and does everything in his power to give LeBron a free wrister on every show. That part alone says everything about this rant.
B: The argument that Smart plays and CP3 is never healthy automatically kills any argument he has. We just went over this with Malcolm Brogdon who wasn’t healthy with the season on the line. Of course, Cowherd doesn’t say a word about Brogdon’s shaky injury history. He also doesn’t say Derrick White’s name period which is borderline disrespectful to how good White is. White needs more minutes, not less. So the Celtics should triple down on another injury prone guy? Not a word from Cowherd on Danilo Gallinari either.
C: CP3 is not a better offensive player than Marcus Smart. Sorry, it’s just not true. Especially the 38-year-old version with CP3. This postseason Smart averaged more points and shot better from the field / three point range than CP3. Google exists, Cowherd. You’re allowed to use it and not lie.
C: The Suns have no leverage. Everybody and their mom knows CP3 is getting cut. In the history of the NBA, no player that has been on the verge of being waived has brought back a player that won a Defensive Player of the Year Award the year before. I don’t even need to look that up cause it doesn’t make any sense.
D: The Celtics laugh at this trade proposal. Marcus Smart has been on the Celtics roster since 2014. They have had plenty of opportunities to trade Smart. Once upon a time Bill Simmons thought the Celtics should trade Smart for Myles Turner. After all this time, the Celtics are turning Smart into 38-year-old CP3. Even Brad Stevens isn’t that dumb.
E: Somehow this isn’t even the worst trade Cowherd proposed for the Celtics… Not even going to waste time talking about why swapping Jaylen Brown for Jordan Poole is brain dead. A five year old that watches tennis knows better than that.
I’m sorry but this is embarrassing. All I request is that this trade gets added to the Jackson project. Just know if I said something like this on the air I would ask one of my employees to slap. You can’t even make this up. Lay off the crack-laced brownies dude…
