CM Punk has had an interesting relationship with AEW. After becoming the face of the company and World Heavyweight Champion, things took a dive. Following the All Out brawl where chairs were thrown, people were bit and dogs were saved, no one knew if Punk would appear in the company again.
CM Punk has been missing not only from the suspension, but also suffered an injury during his match at All Out, though CM Punk’s future with the company may have become a bit more clear recently.
There were early reports that CM Punk was meant to be the face of AEW Collision. This was to feature him in the company, while also keeping him away from talent who didn’t want him in the company. But over the past couple of weeks, Punk and AEW haven’t been seeing eye-to-eye. The issue was reportedly surrounding Ace Steel, Punk’s close friend and AEW employee.
Steel was also involved in the backstage brawl and was released from the company. However, there are reports that Ace Steel was re-hired by the company and was set to return to the road after Collision launched, but the reporting suggests that AEW wasn’t going to have Steel on the road, which CM Punk didn’t agree with.
CM Punk’s relationship with AEW allegedly became rocky following that decision, with the company even removing Punk from promotional material for Collision while also moving the location of the debut episode. Collision was set to debut in Chicago, Illinois, Punk’s hometown. But now the location is to be determined.
Per Fightful Select, CM Punk and AEW have reportedly been in contact with one another. These conversations are believed to have been productive. Furthermore, people close to Punk reportedly believe he will be at the debut episode of Collision.
