Ciryl Gane Is Next Up In The Heavyweight Division

Ciryl Gane, the current #3 ranked heavyweight contender, is the next big fighter in the division. Why? Simply put, he is a complete fighter. Unless his opponent is named Jon Jones, Gane is more complete than the man across from him in the octagon.

Ciryl Gane is the definition of a complete fighter. He has outstanding wrestling, and as a result his opponent always has to watch for the takedown. In addition to his wrestling, Gane has shown that he can stand up and strike with power punchers, demonstrated in his most recent fight against Alexander Volkov. Volkov, traditionally a lethal knockout artist, looked like a lightweight against Gane. Most of his power shots missed and even the ones that hit Gane seemed to just bounce off of him. Gane’s overall game has almost zero flaws and for that reason, he will be UFC heavyweight champion at some point in the near future.

Ciryl Gane has had a short stint in the UFC so far, but he has been wildly impressive. The traditional image of a UFC heavyweight is a brawler who can hit hard and not much else, but Gane is the complete opposite. In 4 UFC fights, he has beaten Tanner Boser, Junior dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and Alexander Volkov. As I said before, Gane is a complete fighter, and his decimation of the top of the division over the last 24 months demonstrates that fact. He has the wrestling to take almost anyone down, the striking to stand up with the best, and the cardio to go five rounds on any given night. Clearly, Ciryl Gane is next up in the heavyweight division.
