Christian Watson has proven he has talent. The guy just can’t stay on the field and his hamstrings keep failing him. The former North Dakota State product missed eight games this season and three games during his rookie year with hamstring injuries.
Now that the season is over, Watson and the team are determined to fix his lower body injuries. I don’t know how but that’s the plan.
“I gotta find out what the root of it is,” Watson said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “That’s the start and then I’ll be able to formulate a plan around that. But if I can find out what kind of things can possibly be leading to it, make sure I’m doing the right things in the offseason, doing the right things during OTAs, into training camp, just find ways to make sure I’m doing everything I can to be conscious of it. That’s my No. 1 plan.”
Through two years Watson has 69 catches for 1,033 yards and 12 touchdowns in 23 regular season games. The former 2nd round pick in 2022 just has to find a way to stay on the field on a more consistent basis.
Watson needs to stay healthy. If he doesn’t, he should be worried. Mostly because the Packers now have so many young rising receivers. Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath, and Bo Melton are also on the depth chart. Doubs and Reed are both rising studs. If Watson doesn’t figure it out, he’s going to be left behind.
