Christian Gonzalez out for season with Torn Labrum

After putting up impressive stats in his rookie season, New England Patriots star cornerback Christian Gonzalez to miss remainder of 2023 season with torn labrum. Gonzalez will be expecting surgery soon. Ian Rapoport reports of the news.

Only weeks into his rookie season, the Patriots have realized they found a gem in Gonzalez. The former Oregon Ducks cornerback has already gotten props from star NFL receivers, including Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

“I was able to go against the rookie,” Hill said on the “It Needed To Be Said” podcast. “He’s real good. A very lengthy corner. He had some real good speed and technique about him.”

Before Gonzalez tore his labrum, the 6’2 corner achieved 17 total tackles with 14 solo ones, three pass deflections, and one interception with the Patriots.

Now, with Gonzalez out for the year, the Patriots traded back for their former cornerback JC Jackson. Jackson has had an up-and-down time with his new squad – the Los Angeles Chargers. Like Gonzalez, Jackson has been stung by the injury bug. The former and now current Patriot only played five games in 2022 due to injury. Jackson would later become a healthy scratch with the Chargers this season against the Minnesota Vikings due to poor play.

Adding Jackson to an injury-dwindled Patriots defense becomes a very smart move for New England. Jackson already knows the Patriots defense and can be instantly slotted into a starting position.

No timetable on Gonzalez’s surgery has announced quite yet, but Patriots fans can breathe once again with the addition of Jackson to their secondary.
