Coming off a record-breaking season for the Dallas Cowboys, superstar wide receiver Ceedee Lamb is looking to become the NFL’s top-paid wide receiver this offseason.
Dallas selected Lamb No. 17 overall in the 2020 NFL draft, and after three consecutive seasons with north of 1,100 yards, Lamb has cemented himself into NFL stardom.
This season, Lamb hasn’t just retained another 1,000-yard season … he broke the Cowboys’ receptions and receiving records, previously held by Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin, with 122 receptions and 1651 receiving yards. Lamb has shown his interest in becoming the league’s top-paid receiver this offseason, but he has bigger priorities ahead of him.
“Ideally, yeah, for sure,” he said Thursday. “At the end of it all, I got a goal in mind and that’s to get a ring. At the end of that, then we’ll start talking about everything else. I’m focused on this and then we’ll get on that.
“Definitely one of the elite receivers in this game and I worked my tail off to be that and to say that confidently.”
That priority: The Super Bowl. Dallas hasn’t won the Super Bowl since 1996, when the Cowboys defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17. Although Dallas running back rumbled for two touchdowns, it wasn’t enough to win Super Bowl MVP. Dallas’ 12th-round pick Larry Brown (the corner, not the tackle) was awarded Super Bowl MVP after recording two interceptions in the second half.
Back in April of 2023, the Cowboys exercised Lamb’s fifth-year option, giving him a base salary of $17.991 million in 2024, per Spotrac. If the Cowboys don’t extend Lamb at the end of the 2024 season, he will become a free agent that summer.
Should Dallas pay Lamb? How much should they give the record-breaking wide receiver? Let us know in the comments down below.
