Cardinals hire Jonathan Gannon to be next Head Coach

Cardinals hire Jonathan Gannon to be next Head Coach

Well, more bad news for Eagles fans. While many of us are still going through the stages of grief following that loss on Sunday. Both Eagles coordinators have been poached as the Cardinals announced they will be hiring Jonathan Gannon to be their next Head Coach. Adam Schefter was the one to break the news.

This comes just a few hours after the Colts announced that they will be hiring Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen to be their next head coach. In the span of 4 hours, the Eagles coaching staff has been whipped out and Siriani must go out and find some more coordinators who can fit within this team’s culture.

All things considered, the loss of Steichen hurts more than than the loss of Jonathan Gannon. He was by no means a horrible defensive coordinator, but many people believe he benefited from having the best defensive roster in the NFL.

And when looking at this Eagles defensive unit it’s quite too easy to see why that’s the case. He seemed too complacent with his playcalling at times and struggled to adjust against better teams. Like we saw against the Chiefs in the second half.

I just don’t quite think he was ready to make the jump to Head Coach. And the situation he is taking on in Arizona is one that would be difficult for any coach. Must less a first-year Head Coach. This Arizona job just seemed like a bad one to take and if I’m being honest I do not think it will work out.

I just don’t believe that Jonathan Gannon has what it takes to be a head coach. But I’m just a college student so what do I really know about a person’s ability to coach an NFL team.

Regardless of how the move will work, the Eagles now have some work to do in the coaching department. It’s always the downside of being a great team, everybody wants your coaches in hopes of emulating your success.

But I think this Cardinals team is far from emulating the success the Eagles saw this year. And is a team that is going to need a lot of work and seems to struggle with a lack of direction for the team. Gannon will surely have his work cut out for him, I just hope that it’s not too much for him.

I may not have been the biggest fan of him but I do still want to see him succeed. It probably won’t happen but that doesn’t mean I still can’t wish for the best. I just wish he hadn’t left to take this awful job in Arizona. But who knows, maybe it all will work out in the end.
