Cardinals Hire Chaim Bloom For Advisory Role

Chaim Bloom is so back. Back like he never left. Bloom was fired at the end of the 2023 MLB Season and it didn’t take him too long to find another place of employment. The former Red Sox President of Baseball Operations has landed on his feet with the Cardinals. In St. Louis, Bloom will take on an advisory role helping out John Mozeliak.

Just to cover all of the tracks:

Katie Woo of The Athletic was the first to report the news. We here at Vendetta view anyone associated with The Athletic as a scumbag so the link directs you to her tweet. Don’t bother reading their site it’s behind a paywall and the entire company is in financial ruin.

The Cardinals released a statement regarding the news.

“It will be good to get an outside perspective of our organization from someone who is as well-respected as Chaim,” Mozeliak said, according to ESPN’s Alden González.

Bloom, 40, spent 14 years with the Tampa Bay Rays until 2019 prior to accepting the position with the Red Sox. Bloom didn’t totally fail. The Red Sox reached the ALCS in 2021 and he was responsible for signing Masataka Yoshida. He just screwed up pretty much everything else. Selling Mookie Betts for pennies on the dollar only begins to describe the errors handling the MLB team.

Still, Bloom will probably be a valued addition to the front office. He did a good job building up the farm system in Boston. Plus, Mozeliak has needed a babysitter for a long time. We’re talking about a guy who had Adolis Garcia and Randy Arozareno and got nothing for either of them. Read this post by Dom for more on that. St. Louis also posted a 71-91 record in 2023. Largely because of the mistakes Mozeliak has made.
