Capcom Announces Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma director Hideaki Itsuno announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in the production phase. Itsuno released a full video where he discussed many of the game’s aspects during the “10 Years of Dragon’s Dogma” digital celebration.
Dragon’s Dogma is an action role-playing video game developed by Capcom that was released in 2012. Gamers play in a fantasy open world setting with a customizable protagonist that they use against a multitude of frightening monsters on many different quests. The Dragon’s Dogma series is known for having a fantastic Pawn system where players can customize their battle support characters or even use other gamers’ customized support characters.
The original game was very successful, which led to Capcom releasing an enhanced title called Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen which was made available for multiple past consoles. However, fans and gamers have been waiting for another installment in the franchise.
Finally, during the digital celebration, Itsuno was extremely happy talking about the next game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and all of its new monsters and features. Now, fans can be joyful knowing that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in production with Capcom’s RE engine which means it will be available on old-generation and next-generation consoles.
Itsuno’s journey to Dragon’s Dogma
Itsuno has been the director for multiple Capcom games. He was a developer on Capcom’s Street Fighter series where he grew his appreciation for action and combat-focused games.
Itsuno was a director for the Devil May Cry game series which is more of an action-adventure hack and slash style game. After these games, he went back to work on his passion project which would come to be known as the Dragon’s Dogma.
The Dragon’s Dogma game beautifully combines gameplay and features of Itsunos past work while still feeling unique and fresh. It will be very interesting to see how Itsuno’s creative style will be improved upon and built on in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
