The San Francisco 49ers are suffering the classic Super Bowl hangover. The entire team has gone down via injury and now is the time to audition for 2021. There is no bigger one coming than Josh Rosen after San Francisco signed him for the remainder of the season.

Up until this point, Rosen can be classified as a bust. The former UCLA product has been nothing short of awful. Not all of it was his fault. Rosen was drafted by the Cardinals where nobody would have survived the Steve Wilks shit show year. Then Rosen was traded to the tanking Dolphins and fell flat on his face.

In San Francisco, Rosen finally gets a chance to show he can play in a functional environment. If Rosen can’t figure it out with Kyle Shanahan, then his NFL journey will likely come to an end.

Coming into the 2018 NFL Draft, I listed Rosen as my third-ranked quarterback in the class. Sam Darnold and Josh Allen I thought were head and shoulders better than the rest of the class. If Rosen hit, he felt like an Eli Manning type of guy. Someone who wasn’t athletic nor carried a gigantic arm. However, you were banking on the smarts and poised demeanor to make everything click.

Rosen felt like if Cooper Manning was maybe talented to make it in the league. That’s not a shot at Rosen. His movement skills just looked like that. He would have been the first pick in the draft if freshman were allowed to declare right away.

San Francisco has a shaky QB room. Jimmy Garoppolo is more than serviceable but it doesn’t feel like they quite believe in him. Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard are closer to CFL players than real NFL players. San Francisco also won’t be in a spot where they’re picking high enough in the draft to land the next star. Rosen has a chance to make an impression.

If Rosen were to find himself getting another NFL start, the 49ers are a hell of a landing spot. Kyle Shanahan is one of the best offensive minds in the sport. You know he always creates support from the ground attack. Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle is a nice set of weapons.

It’s go to for Josh Rosen. Figure it out of get out. Get rid of the snarky attitude and start to right the wrongs of the past. This is the end of the road for Rosen. Time will tell if Kyle Shanahan can resurrect his career.
