Buff Bagwell breaks silence on DUI arrest claims

Buff Bagwell’s inner demons and struggles with substance abuse are no secret. Over the years, the former WCW star has been arrested for DUI infringements on at least one occasion. Recently, reports alleged that Buff Bagwell was arrested earlier this month for a DUI and that he was released days later.

Since catching wind of the reports, Buff Bagwell took to Twitter to set the record straight. According to the WCW veteran, the DUI arrest was real but from an old offense. Additionally, he recently received a sanction for not documenting a trip out of state. This could potentially explain why his earlier DUI arrest came up, and why it was believed that he fell off the wagon again.

Buff Bagwell seems to be on track and will be celebrating a year of sobriety soon. Fans of the WCW veteran seemed to be very happy that the reports were incorrect, and flooded the comment section with well wishes.

If Bagwell’s claim is correct, it seems like it was all a terrible misunderstanding. Hopefully, for the veteran, he’ll reach his one-year sobriety milestone, and celebrate that instead. This notably opens up the door to further work in the industry, but only time will tell whether or not Bagwell will return to a grand stage or not.

The 53-year-old is also set to undergo an operation soon in order to return to the ring. With his new persona as Marcus Bagwell, there could still be one final run in his future. Only time will tell, but it seems like Buff Bagwell’s itch to wrestle hasn’t subsided just yet.
