Buddy Hield Is Insulted By The Kings Contract Extension Offer

Buddy Hield is entering the final season of his rookie contract. Hield was the 6th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Pelicans. Hield was traded to the Kings as part of the Boogie Cousins trade. Hield was obviously a player the Kings had their eyes on for a long time. You would think Sacramento would do everything in their power to keep him. Well, contract negotiations are not going so well.

Buddy Hield is insulted with the Kings contract extension offer. Sacramento offered him a 4-year extension worth $90 million. Chris Haynes of Yahoo reported that Hield is looking for a four-year deal worth around $110 million. Well, Hield is very mad with the Kings offer.

Buddy wants his bag.

“I don’t know if things are going to get done,” Hield said. “If it don’t get done, me and my team will look somewhere else, probably look for another home. Until then, we’ll see what happens here. That’s the goal, to be here, and I love Sacramento. But if they don’t want me here, they don’t feel like I’m part of the core — I like respect and loyalty and I feel like I’m part of the group that’s been getting the team back where it needs to be. So like I said I want to be here, but if they don’t want me here I’ll find somewhere else to be.”

Buddy is not fucking around. He called the Kings a “low market” team. He threatened to look for a new home if the contract doesn’t get done by Monday. The $20 million gap doesn’t seem like a lot but it was enough to get Hield very upset. The Monday deadline is going to be VERY interesting. Does Hield request a trade if a new contract extension isn’t done in time?
